Military Calisthenics for Beginners

Same movements as the full program, just scaled: fewer reps, more rest, and a hard focus on form before intensity.

Most military-style PT content assumes you can already knock out 20 push-ups and hold a plank for a minute. If you can't yet, that's not a reason to skip the training style — it's a reason to start with a smaller version of the exact same circuit.

The beginner circuit below uses the same four movement categories as every other program on this site (push, pull, legs, core/cardio). The only variables that change are volume and rest. Nail this version first.

Weeks 1–2

3 rounds of the beginner circuit, 3x/week. Focus entirely on form — slow the reps down if anything breaks down.

No. Every movement in the beginner circuit uses just your bodyweight and floor space. A pull-up bar is optional later on, not required.
